Courage to be a warrior.
Courage: Finding the Warrior Within with Sangeeta Waldron
Every week, I ask my Brave New Girls podcast guest how they define courage. This week, Sangeeta Waldron, founder of Serendipity PR and author of What Will Your Legacy Be?, provided a refreshingly grounded response:
“Since I've written this book, a lot of people that know me have said to me, ‘You're a warrior.’ And I've never thought of myself in that way. I'm a person that runs—if I see anything creepy, crawly, I run the other way. I'm not brave at all, but I thought, you know what? I'm going to own that. I like that title of warrior. And I think we all have the warrior within us. One thing we are good at as humans is surviving, finding solutions—we do it on a day-to-day basis. When we're trying to get across London and that tube isn’t working, we try to solve it. So, I think we are all warriors. It’s just sometimes tapping into that. We’re all brave at some level, and it’s recognizing that and not being, I think, afraid or ashamed to own it. I quite like owning that warrior—the Earth warrior within me.”
Sangeeta’s perspective reminds us that courage is not always about grand gestures or dramatic heroism. It is often found in the small, everyday acts of perseverance and problem-solving. From navigating challenges in our personal lives to addressing global issues like climate change, courage lies in taking one step forward, no matter how daunting the journey may seem.
