Rising Strong

Even after loss, a loved one lives on in our hearts, in our imagination & in the actions we take to keep their memory alive.

My guest on Brave New Girl podcast this week, Louise Long is doing exactly that.

Her little boy Dylan died last year of brain cancer, and in his name, she is campaigning for brain cancer research - to raise awareness for a cancer whose incidence is rising at a rate of 39%.

When you take deep sadness and turn it into a mission you can move mountains

And sometimes that mountain is simply the ability to get out of bed and face another day.

Listen to Lou Long as she talks about finding that inner strength to go on.

And indeed, how we can all learn to rise strong.

Loss and love

Love is what gives Lou Long the courage to keep going after the loss of her son.

BRAVE NEW GIRL podcast

How do you ever come back from the worst thing ever happening to you?

Lou believed she had a choice, when her 7 year old boy Dylan died of a brain tumour. She could choose not to get out of bed. Or she could choose to get up.

Each day is that hard choice. Another day without her Dylan.

As a personal trainer and functional nutrition advocate Lou knows how to do hard things.

It's her job to help others to do hard things.

And so she decided, she would get up. For herself, her other children, her family. And for Dylan.

In honour of him she is raising awareness for Brain Cancer Research.

Yes she feels the feels, but she is also rising strong.

And in this two part episode, she shows you how, no matter what, you can not only get up and see another day, but you can show up to Be Your Best.

Please listen to Lou's story and feel inspired, through all your hardships.
