Dopamine boost.

Lifting our mood.

On my regular scan with Dr Vidhi Pandya (listen here for my Brave New Girl podcast interview with her), it consistently shows up as low in dopamine and serotonin.

If like me you’re interested in boosting your mood levels naturally, there are options for us.

Dr Vidhi put me on 5HTP from the griffonia plant, and the Dopamine booster Holy Basil. I'll probably always need to take these. But even then, on occasion I still do get a low dip. That's when I give myself a mood boost- lavender and the young living blend Joy.

Dopamine and serotonin are key neurotransmitters involved in mood regulation, motivation, and overall well-being. Essential oils, such as lavender and the Joy blend from Young Living, have been noted for their potential to boost these neurotransmitters.

Lavender essential oil is widely recognised for its calming and anxiety-reducing properties. Studies have shown that it can increase serotonin levels, which can help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety.

The Joy blend, which typically includes a combination of essential oils like bergamot, ylang-ylang, and geranium, is designed to elevate mood and create a sense of happiness. Bergamot oil, for instance, has been found to improve mood and reduce stress by enhancing dopamine release.
