A nice natter

We tell stories every day; a nice natter over a cuppa, a catch up with old friends, a regular date. Didn’t we miss those casual meet-ups in lock down; a relaxing Saturday morning meandering over anecdotes from the week, a bit of gossip or a painful bit of news.

Real life conversations

They are invaluable. Like life blood for the soul.

But what if you can’t get out or for some reason you are too busy to meet up with a pal. Well, something that saved my soul through lock-down was talking to women all round the world, on Brave New Girl podcast.

They came to the mic, with an openness and desire to share their ups and downs. They talked of the lessons they’d learned, the times they thought they would never get up again, and then how, as they found their feet again they turned failure into purpose.

The power of story is what connects us humans to each other. When you go on a website, do you find yourself going to the ‘Our Story’ page? Did you too take the time to write your own ‘About Me’ page? Did you realise how strong a pull it is for your clients to understand where you have come from, why you have created what you have; your dreams, passions and vision for the future?

So the next step is to TELL your story. Share it on as many podcasts as you can. Have those intimate conversations that land between people’s ears as they go about their day, listening because they want to learn. They want stories they can relate to, that can help them in their own struggles.

“It takes gumption and backbone to be a leader at the top, to keep pioneering and keep at the edge of the curve, even when the going gets tough .”
