Growth with feminine arts.
Overcoming Struggles with Daily Rituals: Lara Raybone’s Journey to Self-Alignment.
In our conversation on Brave New Girls podcast, Lara Raybone, founder of Liberation in Love, shares her journey from international model to spiritual guide and feminine arts practitioner. Her path wasn't always smooth - it took multiple physical injuries, including a broken leg and damaged nerves, to force her to slow down and face herself.
Before her transformation, Lara lived a high-flying lifestyle of "sex, drugs, and rock and roll," traveling monthly to different countries for modelling and race championships. While seemingly glamorous, this lifestyle was actually a form of running away from herself. It took being physically unable to move, requiring help with basic tasks, for her to begin learning the vital skill of receiving support from others.
The turning point came during a solo trip to Patagonia, where in the solitude of nature, she finally connected deeply with herself. A profound experience of journaling by Lake Argentina led to what she calls a "forehead kiss from God" - riding bareback through flocks of flamingos, her childhood favorite animal. This moment of pure wonder and gratitude opened her to the magic possible when we truly connect with ourselves.
Today, Lara's practice includes growing herbs for healing, connecting with the earth through homesteading, and helping other women find their authentic expression. She emphasizes the importance of embracing all aspects of ourselves - from the "fierce warrior" to the "soft lover girl who just wants to read in an orchard."
Her work acknowledges the challenge of maintaining presence in our scrolling, social media-driven world. She advocates for creating safe spaces where we can explore all our emotions, including rage and grief, understanding that these "uncomfortable" feelings often hold keys to our healing.
Particularly for mothers and caregivers, Lara recognises the biological imperative to nurture others can lead to self-neglect. She teaches the importance of balance - filling our own cups so we can truly show up for those we love. This isn't just about surface-level self-care like bubble baths (though those have their place), but about deep self-connection and honouring all parts of ourselves.
One of her most powerful insights is about the safety of being seen. In a world where social media exposure can mean thousands of eyes on us, Lara acknowledges the ancestral fear many women carry about being too visible, too powerful, too much. She helps women navigate this fear, understanding it's often rooted in historical and generational trauma.
A daily practice of bringing ourselves back into self-alignment through our feminine arts, helps to build our overall sense of wellbeing and a ripple effect of compassion and connection out into the world.
