An Alchemist's Guide to Transformation & Empowerment.

My Brave New Girls podcast guest this week is Patricia Newton, author of "Journey to Magnificence: An Alchemist's Guide to Transformation & Empowerment." A master healer & teacher blending medical expertise with complementary therapies & spiritual wisdom, Patricia's work helps unravel the trauma & darkness that hold us back, guiding us to live better for ourselves, for others, and for the planet.

Patricia Newton's approach to healing, as described in the transcript, revolves around the concept of the "pain body," a term used by Eckhart Tolle to describe the emotional pain that accumulates in our psyche over time. According to Newton, our physical, emotional, and energetic bodies store the traumas of past experiences, which can manifest as energy blockages or emotional patterns that may negatively impact our lives. Her methods for healing include kinesiology, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and other complementary therapies that aim to release these blockages and allow individuals to heal themselves from the inside out.

She emphasises the importance of acknowledging and working through these traumas rather than suppressing them, as this can lead to physical symptoms and chronic conditions. Patricia also incorporates spirituality and the idea that understanding and embracing both the light and dark within oneself can lead to a holistic healing experience. Her healing philosophy is rooted in the belief that by healing ourselves, we can create a positive impact on others and the planet.

Patricia uses the power of archetypes and storytelling as therapeutic tools to aid in the healing process. Archetypes, as defined by psychologist Carl Jung, are universal, mythic characters that reside within the collective unconscious of people the world over. They represent fundamental human motifs of our experience as we evolved; hence, they evoke deep emotions.

Patricia taps into the transformative power of these archetypes to help individuals understand and navigate their personal journeys. By identifying with archetypes, such as the Warrior, the Healer, or the Sovereign, clients can access strengths and attributes that might have seemed out of reach. For example, someone embracing the Sovereign archetype might find within themselves the strength to assert boundaries and reclaim control over their life narrative.

Patricia integrates the magic of storytelling to create a space where individuals can externalise their experiences and view them through a different lens. Fairy tales and myths, often replete with archetypal characters and situations, allow for a form of catharsis and understanding that can be less confronting than direct personal introspection. They provide a narrative framework that can help people make sense of their complex feelings and experiences. For instance, the story of a hero's journey can parallel an individual's quest to overcome their personal trauma and find inner peace.

Through the use of archetypes and storytelling, Patricia helps people reimagine their pain and trauma as part of a larger narrative, giving it meaning and context. This process can empower individuals to rewrite their stories, transforming their pain body into a source of strength and wisdom. By finding their place within these universal stories, clients can forge a path toward healing that is both personally resonant and steeped in the collective human experience.

Stories for healing.

The healing journey according to Patricia is one of embodiment, where acknowledging, feeling, and releasing the stored emotions within our physical and emotional bodies is crucial. By tapping into these stored emotions, we start to understand our reactions and the deep-seated patterns that govern our lives, which were often formed in early childhood. Patricia suggests that by addressing these issues, we can alter our "blueprints" for reacting and create new, healthier patterns.

Here are 10 actionable steps based on Patricia Newton's methods to begin healing your inner pain :

Acknowledgment: Recognise that the pain body exists and that it holds onto past traumas and emotional wounds.

Body Awareness: Pay attention to where you may feel emotional pain or tension in your body, as this can indicate where the pain body is active.

Emotional Mapping: Use techniques like kinesiology to map out emotions and their corresponding physical points on the body.

EFT Tapping: Apply the Emotional Freedom Technique to help release stored emotions by tapping on specific meridian points.

Blueprint Identification: Reflect on your childhood and identify any established patterns or 'blueprints' that dictate how you react in certain situations.

Breath Work: Practice deep breathing exercises to help release emotional blockages and bring awareness to the present moment.

Mindfulness Meditation: Engage in mindfulness to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, allowing them to pass through you.

Physical Expression: Use physical activity, such as dancing or exercise, to help move the energy and release the pain body.

Creative Release: Draw, write, or engage in creative activities to express and understand your emotions.

Spiritual Practice: Embrace spiritual practices that resonate with you to help integrate and heal all aspects of your being.

By taking these steps, you can begin the process of healing and transforming your pain body, leading to a more empowered and fulfilled life. Newton's work emphasizes that through this healing, we not only improve our own well-being but also contribute positively to the world around us.
