Not all unicorns

It’s not all unicorns and rainbows when it comes to the mind and the brain. Where it was conjecture before, now we have the science. When you are stressed and overwhelmed it affects your body. When you are sleep deprived it impacts your body. When you feed your body badly it hurts the brain. We know it to be true because brain scans show it to be so.

That’s the bad news. The good news is that what works one way, also works the other. You can make changes to improve the state of your brain. Each one of us has our own brain print or personality but there are things that we can do to nurture nature.

Learn about the beauty of your brain and your power to make the best of it by listening to The Brain Lady aka Julie Anderson as she tells her story this week on Brave New Girl podcast.

Brave New Girl podcast

Julie Anderson has studied natural health, psychology, psychoneuro-immunology & the field of brain personality connection. With further specialism in depression, anxiety disorders and brain function, she helps us to discover our own personal brain-print, & how to make the most of it.

Julie explains what a brain-print is, and how, after the two years we have all had we can use our brains to help us recover and build resilience for whatever is ahead.

Julie was the middle girl of 5 daughters with an alcoholic abusive father was jailed for manufacturing meth-amphetamine, but she was always a positive child and understood that his problem was his problem and not hers.

However she had a car accident at the age of 18 and the chiropractor who was meant to be healing her was a sexual predator, and it took her a couple of years to recover. With her faith and training herself in self-care, she overcame the trauma, keen not to remain haunted by the man.

She became very interested in the brain and studied psychoneuroimmunology and the effect that our thoughts, stressors and traumas can have on the physical health of our bodies. She's not talking about toxic positivity and pretending everything is rainbows and unicorns, but about learning solid techniques for keeping our minds healthy and therefore our bodies.

She says that our brains hear every thought and that it is our responsibility to manage our thoughts so that we maintain our brains in a good condition. It is important not to compare ourselves with others and it is imperative that we understand that we each have our own unique challenges and therefore our courage is unique to us too.

Thanks Julie for taking us on deep dive into our brains and how they can work for us and not against us, and thanks also for showing us how we can make the most of our own unique brain personalities no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in.
