Life with a coach.

Being Present as Practice.

When life is constantly throwing curveballs, challenging people and critical situations in your path  it’s common to find yourself acting out of character, responding in anger, fear, frustration, or resorting to blaming and complaining. Such reactions often stem from our ego, a facet of our personality that can dominate our behaviour in stressful situations. However, there's a way to reclaim control: by practicing presence. This journey is not just about self-help; it involves working closely with a coach to stay on track, as the person you want to be.

I am a coach with fifteen years of experience working with 1:1 clients and I have worked for a coach academy training new coaches. I use a tried and tested methodology in which we asses where you are, explore what’s not working for you, and work out where you want to be. We set goals, unearth limiting beliefs, adhere to your core values, and get you back on track to living the life that feels meaningful and fulfilling for you. But I also use a less known coaching technique which is the power of the present.

1. Initial Consultation and Assessment

The first step in this transformative journey is to have an initial consultation with me your coach. This is where you openly discuss your challenges and goals. I will assess your current mindset and identify triggers that lead to your out-of-character reactions. This step is crucial for tailoring the coaching to your specific needs and setting a foundation for the work ahead.

2. Understanding and Recognising the Ego

As you progress, you'll learn to identify when your ego is at play. This involves distinguishing between your true self and the ego-driven self. With my guidance, you'll start practicing awareness of your reactions in various situations. Recognising the ego’s influence is the first step towards managing it effectively.

3. Mindfulness and Presence Training

Mindfulness and being present are more than just buzzwords; they are powerful tools for personal growth. You'll engage in exercises that enhance your ability to stay present and mindful, which are essential in managing immediate reactions and emotions. Techniques like breathing exercises and a specific meditation method, might be employed to help you focus and regain control in stressful situations.

4. Developing New Response Patterns

One of the most challenging yet rewarding parts of this journey is creating healthier response patterns. I will guide you in replacing old, ego-driven reactions with new, more constructive ones. This involves a lot of practice and feedback, helping you to gradually shift your habitual reactions to more positive and controlled responses.

5. Integration and Application

Finally, you'll learn to integrate these new patterns into your daily life. The goal is to make these new response patterns a natural part of your behaviour.

Gains Over Six Sessions

Over six sessions, you can expect to gain improved self-awareness, particularly in understanding your ego and its triggers. You'll develop a stronger ability to remain present and mindful, reducing reactive behaviour. New emotional response habits will take shape, leading to better stress management and emotional regulation. Ultimately, you will experience increased overall well-being and a stronger sense of inner peace.

You will discover what isn’t working for you and how to tackle it, change it or accept it. You will align your life with what really matters to you. You will learn to approach challenges and set-backs as opportunities for growth. You will become more aware, more attuned, more appreciative and because of that you will feel more alive than you ever have.

Working with a coach on being present is a practice in self-discovery and control. It’s about recognizing the gap between us and our egos and choosing to respond rather than react. With practice, guidance, and commitment, you can step out of the clutches of your ego and embrace a more balanced and fulfilling life.
